Assignment 1

A required assignment (RA) is a substantive assessment intended to measure student performance against selected course objectives and program outcomes within a course. RAs are completed by all students across all Argosy University campuses and delivery formats without exception. Each RA contributes to a significant portion of the overall course grade and is assessed by the instructor using the rubric designed for that assessment. These are individual assignments, and students earn individual grades. RAs are not intended to assess students on every topic covered in the course—just on the key course objectives and program outcomes.

In this course, two major assignments (or RAs) make up 50% of your total class grade.

In RA 1, you will develop an advocacy plan based on the scenario provided. Your plan will incorporate the relevant American Counselling Association (ACA) Advocacy Competencies and your approach to facilitating client wellness. Your final product will be a 10- to 14-slide Microsoft PowerPoint presentation written in APA format, utilizing at least five scholarly sources. The description of RA 1 is given on the page M4 Assignment 2 RA 1.

In RA 2, you will investigate a topic of interest to you that is relevant to professional counseling. Consider choosing a topic appropriate to an area in which you hope to or may consider specializing. The topic may address a specific population, a disorder or a diagnosis, a treatment method or technique, a current professional issue, or a social justice issue in counseling. The literature review is designed to increase your knowledge of the topic and improve your CMHC practice or service delivery. Information included in the literature review should be current and scholarly in order to be relevant. You must receive instructor approval for your topic by Module 3. Your final product will be an 8- to 10-page Microsoft Word document written in APA format, utilizing at least 10 scholarly sources. The description of RA 2 is given on the page M7 Assignment 2 RA 2.
